Unusual Cut-Out Julep Strainer

Here is an antique julep strainer that is unmarked. However, I believe it to have been manufactured by C. J. Hauck & Son, Brooklyn, N.Y. It has an unusual zig zag edge round cut-out on the handle and the only other time I have seen a similar cut-out is on a larger C. J. Hauck strainer. It measures approximately 5 and 1/2 inches in length and the bowl measures approximately 2 and 3/4ths inches wide. 385669062-antique-julep-strainer-circa-1890-unusual-cut-out-570x427-sold

Note that the bend in the handle is somewhat unusual as well…see second photo.

C. J. Hauck was a manufacturer of fancy metal goods at his Brooklyn, N.Y. location in the 1860s.
