Here are two bar spoons marked “Murray Silver Co.”; I believe Murray Silver might have been a wholesaler in the New York City area. They measure approximately 5 and 1/4 inches in length. The pattern is known as ” Windsor Twist”.
The last photo in my Etsy listing shows a page from the 1895 Dan W. Zeber catalog. It shows that a 5 and 1/4 inch bar spoon would be used for a “Tom and Jerry ” or ” hot whiskey”, which would be a hot toddy. The Tom and Jerry is a warm frothy egg and milk drink or punch usually served in a mug. See second to last photo. It would make sense that a spoon would be served with the drink to scoop up some of that froth.
