L. Barth & Son Julep Strainer

Here is a silver plated julep strainer marked “L. Barth & Son”. Leopold Barth began in business in the 1870s as a tinsmith and after a few years opened a hardware store in New York City’s East Side. He then focused his operation on supplying silver, glass china et cetera to hotels, restaurants, steamships, hospitals and others. His son, Harry, jooined the company, I believe innthe 1890s. They were acquired by Albert Pick in 1926.

There is an acorn cut out on the handle as well as a ribbed design. It measures approximately 6 and 3/8 inches long and the bowl is about 3 inches wide.
