C. J. Hauck Shaker

Here is an antique three piece cocktail shaker marked “Chas. (C is missing) J. Hauck & Son, Pat’d June 24, 84, Brooklyn, N. Y. It measures approximately 7 and 3/4 inches tall. This design, the first three piece shaker with built in strainer, was patented by Charles Hauck’s son, Edward.

This shaker was made in both silver plated and nickel plated versions and I don’t know which this one is. The areas that are covered where the pieces fit together are shiny and bright and look like silver plating as does the bottom. I didn’t polish this stainer but most likely it will polish up nicely.

There is an air vent built into the middle section (to allow for faster pouring) and a corresponding tiny hole on the outside of that section.

This shaker is available here at my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/601594086/reserved-for-fc-chas-jhauck-cocktail
