Here is an antique julep strainer with acorn cut-outs on the handle. The spoon measures 6 and 1/4 inches in length, the bowl measures 3 inches wide, and the handle is marked “Budde & Westermann”.
I believe this strainer is made of solid German or nickel silver and I don’t think it is, or was, ever plated. It is a nice heavy weight and will serve well for many years as there is no plate to wear.
Budde & Westermann were suppliers to the restaurant and bar trade. They were located on Vessey St. in New York City during the 1890s.
