Here is an antique silverplate star julep strainer that is unmarked. It measures approximately 5 and 9/16ths inches in length and the bowl measures approximately 2 and 3/4ths inches wide.
I believe it is possible this strainer might have been made by C. J. Hauck of Brooklyn, NY. I have sold two marked Hauck star julep strainers and both had the same cross shaped cut-outs in the same configuration. They also had the large draped star cutout on the handle.
C. J. Hauck was a manufacturer of fancy metal goods at his Brooklyn, N.Y. location in the 1860s. I have written a blog post about C. J. Hauck, including patent illustrations, which can be found here:
