For sale is a silver plated bar spoon which is unmarked as to maker. It measures 5 and 5/8 inches in length.
It has a twisted handle at the top of which is an image of a horse, a bird that looks like a cardinal and flower as well as aesthetic design detail. The pattern of horse and cardinal suggest this spoon relates to Kentucky. It might be related to the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs and mint juleps. Perhaps this image is that of Aristides, the winner of the first Kentucky Derby.
I have been unable to find another one like this. It’s a beauty!
