For sale is an antique silver plated julep strainer that is marked “Wm. Rogers & Son AA” preceded by an anchor mark. It measures approximately 5 and 3/4 inches in length and the bowl measures approximately 2 and 13/16ths inches wide.
The star cut-out or “Star” pattern julep strainer is known to have existed as early as 1886 as it was featured in the 1886-87 Meriden Britannia catalog. This strainer has a fancy design on the front of the handle as well as a star cut-out.
Please see my blog post “The Victorian Bar” to read more about this:
This strainer is in good condition. The bowl interior has some areas of corrosion. There are some scratches on the back of the handle and some wear evident along the edge of the handle back.
