Both of these spoons are marked Extra Coin Silver Plate and Pat May 2, ’99.
The photo shows the spoons on an image of the patent for this design. The designer, William A. Jameson, was a principal in the William A. Rogers company. Extra Coin Silver Plate was a backstamp of the William A. Rogers company. In his patent he describes the bowl as “ladle like” and the top of the handle “pear shaped”. He does not describe his intended use for these spoons. I have seen spoons in this shape listed as soda spoons (for the longer one) and sherbet spoons (for the shorter). Certainly they can be used as ladles and they could also be used as bar spoons. I have even seen this shape used as a muddler.
